Mike, Choon, Tricia, Savin and Vishnu implemented an app tailored to the Samsung smartphone SM-J106B that supports three types of guitars (electric, acoustic, bass) using sound synthesis and gesture recognition. The app is designed in such a way that people without musical background (or several years of training) can perform music simply by pressing buttons on the touch screen and by shaking the phone. By tilting the phone, the Karplus-Strong synthesized sound could be modified. This project was conducted for the “Sound and Music Computing” class (CS4347) by Prof. Wang Ye.
